Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary said cabinet members debated and expressed their concerns on Pakistan being on the UK Red List, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Pakistan has been on the UK’s red list since April, when it was added along with the Philippines, Kenya, and Bangladesh, due to concerns over the Indian-Delta variant.
Fawad Ch was briefing the media persons after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired the cabinet meeting.
Recently, hopes have been raised after Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said he wants to see the country taken off the red list while speaking at a press conference in Islamabad.

He said Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal and Sardar Ali Khan have been appointed in Punjab.
Information Minister Fawad Ch said NADRA has been allowed to set up a National Data Repository and cabinet approved funds allocation for payment of Roosevelt Hotel dues.
“Now Roosevelt Hotel will be returned to Pakistan, which was linked to the Reko Diq case,” Fawad Chaudhry said
Federal cabinet also ratified Economic Coordination Council (ECC) August 31 decisions. Fawad Ch said the cost of remedial injection has now been reduced to Rs3967
The minister said that practical steps are being made to revive the cinema and their announcement will be made next week.
The cabinet has decided to approve the showcasing of Non-Indians films, including Canadian Punjabi films and for that cabinet members decided to change the summary.
Fawad Chaudhry also said that cabinet members also debated on Pakistan’s being on the UK government Red List and expressed their hope the British government will review its policy.
“The cabinet members expressed their concerns on Pakistan being on the UK’’s Red List. SAPM Dr Faisal talked to the UK,” he added.
He said that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan-UK Re-Admission has been postponed.
He said, “We have implemented the Mandatory Service Act in Radio Pakistan.”
Fawad Chaudhry also revealed that a chartered plane from the UK wanted to come to Pakistan and sought entry with the exemption. The cabinet issued directions that government officers would not able to get two plots in Islamabad.
“The Prime Minister has formed a committee comprising Asad Umar, Shirin Mazari, Babar Awan, Shehzad Akbar and Farogh Naseem.
The cabinet decided that Pakistan Army to provide security New Zealand Cricket Team is coming to Pakistan as a security plan has been formulated.
He said that there were many obstacles in the PTI government’s way since they took power but they overcome the difficulties.
He termed PMLN Javed Latif as a ‘political joker’.
Fawad Chaudhary said his government wanted electoral, economic, and media reforms.
He alleged PMLN and PPP has no interest in reforms.
Fawad Ch termed opposition as the most ineligible opposition ever.
“We gave a demo of EVM but opposition people did not come in those briefings,” he added.
