Maryam Aurangzeb reveals shocking flood toll in Punjab

Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb on Sunday released alarming flood statistics, confirming that 4,155 villages have been submerged, over 2.2 million people displaced, and 56 lives lost across the province due to ongoing floods, 24NewsHD TV reported.

Speaking to the media, Aurangzeb emphasised that under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Punjab is witnessing one of the largest rescue and relief operations in its history. From August 23 to September 7, 2025, more than 22 lakh flood-affected individuals have been safely relocated to secure areas.

She disclosed that recent floods have impacted over 42 lakh people, devastating crops on nearly 15 lakh acres of agricultural land. Among the major rivers causing destruction, the River Chenab affected 1,957 villages, the River Ravi submerged 1,477, and the Sutlej River hit 625 villages. The Indus River also left 244,404 people affected across 96 districts.

To manage the crisis, 494 medical camps and 413 relief camps have been set up, operating round the clock. Additionally, over 500 veterinary medical camps are currently functioning to safeguard livestock in the affected zones.

Aurangzeb stated that anti-mosquito spraying is actively underway, while food, clean drinking water, insulin, and essential medicines are being delivered through mobile field hospitals. Over 1,000 mobile healthcare units, including "clinic-on-wheels" and mother-and-child vans, are stationed in affected regions.

She further commended the unified efforts of various departments, including housing, municipal corporations, WASA, and local governments, in executing coordinated rescue and relief operations across Punjab.
