Police form SIT to trace kidnapped woman missing for six years

In a renewed effort to solve a six-year-old kidnapping mystery, police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to trace a woman who went missing from the Kahna area of Lahore. 

The woman, a mother of two, has been unaccounted for since 2019, with no significant leads until now, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The SIT has been constituted under the supervision of DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza, with officers drawn from various critical branches. 

The team includes SSP Asim Kamboh from the Investigation Branch Punjab, SP Model Town Mohammad Ayaz, DSPs from the Special Branch, Safe City, and Crime Control Department (CCD), Hasnain Hayder and Danish Raza, as well as DSP Investigation Kahna Circle Usman Haider and Incharge Investigation Inspector Zahid Saleem.

This major step comes after the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Aalia Neelum, directed authorities to recover the woman without further delay. 

The court’s urgency underscores the gravity of the case, which has remained unresolved for years.

The missing woman was reported under FIR No-1572/2019 at the Kahna Police Station, registered under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which pertains to abduction.

Officials confirmed that the SIT has commenced a comprehensive investigation, exploring all possible angles, with the aim of finally bringing closure to the family and justice for the victim.
