DC Rawalpindi rejects PTI plea seeking nod for rally at Liaquat Bagh

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi on Wednesday rejected the PTI’s application, seeking permission for holding a rally at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the DC, the party’s application came under discussion at the District Intelligence Committee meeting.

He said that on account of the present fragile security and law and order situation, section 144 had been imposed in the city. “Therefore, the PTI cannot be allowed to hold the rally since holding such an event in the present situation could be risky.”

The deputy commissioner said that lots of resources were required to provide security to any public meeting at Liaquat Bagh. “However, due to the energy crisis and the government’s austerity measures, such resources could not be mobilized.

TTAP leaders to decide participation in PTI’s rally

Also on Wednesday, an important meeting of Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) was convened at the residence of the alliance Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai at which it would be decided whether the alliance leaders would join the PTI’s rally or not.

All allies, including Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, were invited to the huddle.

Sources told the 24News TV channel that earlier, the TTAP had hinted at not attending the PTI’s rally.

They informed that both Achakzai and Abbas had advised the PTI to participate in parliamentary debates rather than taking to the streets.

Sources further said that the TTAP was opposed to any such protest which could result in the loss of people’s lives.
