Iran expresses gratitude to Pakistan’s civil, military leadership

Iran has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its role in securing a ceasefire, with Iranian leadership confirming steps toward de-escalation and renewed diplomatic engagement with the United States.

According to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel, Iran’s supreme leader Mujtaba Khamenei thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their efforts in achieving the ceasefire. 

Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei said that Iran would reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz for two weeks at Pakistan’s request.

The TV channel report added that the Iranian supreme leader has formally accepted the ceasefire and directed his military units to halt attacks as part of the agreement.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that if attacks on Iran are stopped, the country’s forces will also suspend their defensive operations. 

He confirmed that Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has ratified the ceasefire agreement.

In an official statement, Iranian authorities described the outcome as a significant development, claiming that their adversaries had suffered a major setback and were compelled to accept a ten-point truce framework. 

The proposed plan includes guarantees of non-aggression by the United States, continuation of Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, and the acceptance of its nuclear enrichment programme.

The proposals further call for the lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, withdrawal of United States combat forces from the region, revocation of international resolutions, and compensation to Iran.

Araghchi also confirmed that safe passage for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would be ensured over the next two weeks, subject to coordination with Iranian armed forces and technical considerations. 

He reiterated his appreciation for the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan’s leadership in facilitating the ceasefire.
