The ritual of washing (ghusl) of Data Ganj Bakhsh’s shrine was performed ahead of his 979 annual Urs celebrations, reported 24 News HD Channel Monday.
The ceremony started with recitation of the Holy Quran while renowned Naat Khawans paid glowing tributes to the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) by reciting different Naats.
Later, Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi along with ministers and officers gave a bathe to the shrine with 50 maund rose water and laid a wreath on the grave of the Great Sufi saint.
Special prayers were offered for peace, stability and prosperity of the country.
On the occasion, Parvez Elahi said, "Hazrat Data Sahib gave the message of love, peace and brotherhood. Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, Adviser to CM Umer Sarfraz Cheema, IGP Faisal Shahkar, Hafiz Ammar Yasir, Rasikh Elahi, Sardar Talib Nakai, Syed Samsam Ali Bukhari, Captain (R) Asadullah Khan and others also participated in the ghusal ceremony. A large number of devotees were also present on the occasion.
After performing the Ghusl Mubarak, Khatib Data Darbar Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialvi offered a special prayer for the country's security and stability.
