40% drop in serious crime after establishment of CCD

Crime Control Department (CCD) did what Punjab Police could not do for years as after elimination of a large number of criminals across Punjab including Lahore, a huge reduction of 40 percent was recorded in serious crime, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday. 

According to statistics issued by CCD, during the four months a total of 815 suspects were killed and injured during encounters with CCD. 

Out of the total, 480 were killed while 335 criminals were injured during encounters with CCD. 

In the beginning of CCD, in March, 16,500 serious crimes were reported across Punjab including Lahore. 

After the CCD operations, serious crimes decreased to 10,100 in July.

Drug and robbery cases were reported in March, 5,071, while in July, 2,600. Murder cases were reported in March, 384, while in July, 289. 

Car theft cases were reported in March, 7,900, while in July, 5,378. Theft cases were reported in March, 3,100, while in July, 2,000. 

Kidnapping for ransom cases decreased from nine to two. 

Last year, when the CCD was not operational, there was a 30 percent increase in crimes in the last one year. 

After the CCD became operational, the number of robberies, murders, and injuries in robberies decreased significantly.
