426 accused arrested for selling drugs in educational institutions, NA informed

Minister for Interior and Anti-Narcotics has submitted a report in the National Assembly regarding drugs sales around educational institutions and, according to which, 1,425 kilograms of narcotics were impounded in 269 operations and 426 accused were arrested for selling drugs in educational institutions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The report said the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics will conduct a comprehensive survey, which will be completed in 2026 and which will contain complete data about the supply and usage of narcotics.

The report admitted that authentic data about the supply and usage of drugs in educational institutions is not available in the country.

It said the government conducted a narcotics use survey 12 years ago in 2013, but the use of drugs in educational institutions was not included in that survey.

The report further said the Prime Minister directed to conduct of a national survey about the supply and use of narcotics in the country.

The report said that this survey will show the true picture of drug information. All the figures about the supply and use of drugs in educational institutions are not authentic. 

The report said that measures were adopted to curb the supply and use of narcotics in educational institutions.

It said that after directives from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the General Headquarters (GHQ) Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) is starting an anti-narcotics campaign with a focus on the educational institutions.
