CM Bugti chairs meeting to review water shortage in Gwadar

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti chaired a high level meeting to review drought and water shortage situation in Gwadar city and adjoining areas, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel. 

Gwadar MPA Maulana Hadayat-ur-Rehman and officers of concerned departments also attended the meeting. On the occasion, CM Bugti directed the concerned department to take all out steps to resolve the water issue. 

Chairman Gwadar Port Authority told the meeting that Gwadar Port Authority's water desalination plant has been restored to 300,000 gallons per day level and the plant's capacity will be increased to 600,000 gallons per day during next three days. 

The Chief Minister ordered that during power outages, water supply should be continued uninterrupted by switching water plants to alternative energy sources. 

He directed to expedite connection for water supply from Shadi Kaur Dam, adding that water pipeline projects should be completed within 15 days. Chief Minister Balochistan constituted a coordination committee comprising heads of various departments has been formed under the chairmanship of the Chairman Gwadar Port Authority to deal with water shortage. The coordination committee will send a progress report to the CM Secretariat on a daily basis about the decisions. 

Bugti made it clear that the problem of water shortage in Gwadar will be solved at all costs. The CM said he will talk to the Prime Minister and the Power Division about the unannounced and prolonged power outage from Iran.

Balochistan Chief Minister also ordered that ongoing and proposed water projects in Gwadar should be completed on an emergency basis. The 

Chief Minister said he will personally monitor the progress of the water situation, solve the problems faced by the people of Gwadar.
