Woman arrested for assaulting police officer at Lahore checkpoint
A routine traffic check at the Mahmood Booti, Lahore checkpoint turned into violence when a female driver allegedly assaulted a lady police officer after being asked to clear the roadway, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
According to a Dolphin Force spokesperson, the incident occurred on the Eastern Bypass when the driver, identified as Sumaira, became agitated during routine checking.
In a fit of anger, she parked her car in the middle of the road, blocking regular traffic, and reportedly misbehaved with multiple officers on duty, issuing serious threats.
A lady police officer, Rabab, approached the driver and requested her to move the vehicle aside to ease the traffic flow.
However, the situation escalated when Sumaira allegedly struck the officer on the head with a metal bottle, causing a head injury.
Following the assault, the police took the woman into custody and shifted her to the Manawan Police Station.
The spokesperson confirmed that legal proceedings are underway and a formal case will be registered against her.
