PTI holds torch-bearing rally in Rawalpindi against ‘stolen mandate’

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers on Sunday staged a torch-bearing rally in Rawalpindi to protest what they described as the theft of the public mandate in the February 8, 2024, elections, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

Protesters carrying torches and party flags chanted slogans during the demonstration, while party leaders stressed that PTI would continue peaceful protests to highlight alleged electoral injustice and broader governance concerns.  

The rally was led by Seemabia Tahir, who said that PTI workers continue to protest against the alleged manipulation of election results.

Addressing participants, she stated that the party has not forgotten the events of February 8 and will not allow what she termed a “black chapter” in the country’s political history to be erased.

Seemabia Tahir also condemned the continued incarceration of PTI founder Imran Khan, saying that their leader has been kept in jail for over two and a half years without justification.

 She reiterated the party’s demand for justice and the restoration of what PTI claims to be the genuine public mandate.

In addition, she said the rally was also held to protest the recent terrorist incident in Tarlai, expressing solidarity with the victims and calling for improved security measures.
