Umrah travel fraud uncovered at airport, agent detained

An alleged Umrah travel scam was uncovered late at night at the airport, where an agent was caught after reportedly cancelling the tickets of pilgrims under the pretext of arranging their Umrah journey, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

The suspect has been identified as Molvi Ishaq, a resident of Khan Garh Domah, who is allegedly associated with a travel agency located near Bukhari Bus Stand, Alipur.

According to initial information, the agent had booked tickets for 10 individuals intending to perform Umrah, but later cancelled their tickets without their knowledge, allegedly to misappropriate the funds.

Reports suggested that while the affected pilgrims were left stranded, the agent was allegedly attempting to proceed on his own Umrah journey.

The matter came to light when the affected individuals discovered the cancellation at the airport and confronted the agent, following which he was apprehended by members of the public and handed over to the FIA authorities.

Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the alleged fraud.
