'Do not despair'! Achakzai, Raja Nasir Abbas vow to protect people from 'fascism'

Leaders of the Movement for Protection of the Constitution, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and Mahmood Khan Achakzai, reiterated on Thursday that their movement was rooted in positivity and national reconciliation.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Achakzai said, “We have not come to speak ill of anyone. Lahore is our city, our heart.” He recalled that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had once held a rally on the same GT Road and raised the slogan of “respect the vote.” He invited the Sharif family and all democratic forces to join the movement and once again strengthen this democratic slogan.

He said collective courage and unity could steer the country towards progress. “If we all dare together, Imran Khan will come out of jail, and the country will move forward,” he remarked, while also appealing to the police to perform their duties strictly in accordance with the law.

Achakzai reiterated that the movement aimed to eliminate oppression and uphold the Constitution of Pakistan. “We are against every institution and party that stands against the Constitution,” he said, adding that economic injustice has forced capitalists to flee while the poor continue to suffer. He announced that dialogue would only be possible after February 8, and only in an environment where the Constitution prevails. He stressed that fair and transparent elections are the only way forward, asserting that only those who truly win according to the law should govern.

Addressing the media, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas underlined the centrality of the rule of law for justice. “Justice is not possible without the rule of law,” he said, expressing concern over the deteriorating state of institutions and lawlessness across Punjab. He warned against attempts to seize power through fear and intimidation, urging the nation not to lose hope or be afraid.

“Our message to the people is clear: do not despair,” Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said. “We have come out to save the country, and we will continue to protect it from fascism.”

The press conference concluded with a renewed call for constitutional governance, public unity and peaceful struggle to ensure democracy, justice, and stability in Pakistan.
