Do you think you have been blocked on WhatsApp by someone?

There could be many ways to find that out, if you do not want to reach out to the contact directly. WhatsApp has listed the ways to find out if you have been blocked, on its FAQ page. The messaging app does not alert users when they get blocked by someone due to privacy reasons, it is for the user to apply the tricks and find out whether they have been blocked by someone on the app.

Whatsapp has shared few indicators that can help the user know if they have been blocked by their contacts.

The first step to know whether someone has blocked you on WhatsApp or not is to check the contact’s last seen. If you can no longer see the last seen of a person or online in the chat window, they may have blocked you. However, WhatsApp does give users the power to hide the last seen. So this could also be one of the reasons why you cannot see someone’s last seen.

You will not see any updates to the person’s profile picture. The display picture would not visible to you.

The best way to check if someone has blocked you is by sending messages to the contact who you suspect has gotten rid of you on WhatsApp. The messages will always show one check mark and never show a second check mark (message delivered) even after days.

Even when you try calling the person who may block you on WhatsApp, will not go through.

“If you see all of the indicators above for a contact, this could mean that the user is blocking you. However, there are other possibilities. We have made this intentionally ambiguous in order to protect your privacy when you block someone. Thus, we cannot tell you if you are being blocked by someone else,” WhatsApp said.

If you want to block someone on the messaging app, go to Settings, then Account, then Privacy, then Blocked > Add New and then choose the contact you want to block. On a related note, you may get blocked by the app itself if you use a modified version of the app. Recently, the GB WhatsApp, which has been created by third-party developers gained traction on the internet. The clone version of the app comes with a lot of additional features but if you download it, you may lose access to your original WhatsApp account permanently.
