FBR declares over Rs200,000 cash transactions as ‘high risk’
The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has declared cash transactions over Rs200,000 as “high risk” and tightened its monitoring further, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Introducing new curbs on cash transactions under Finance Act 2025, automatic tracing will be enforced in case cash over Rs200,000 was deposited.
A hefty 20.79 percent tax will also be deducted on depositing cash over Rs200,000.
The amount will not credit into ledger after a transaction of depositing over Rs200,000 cash.
The FBR’s automatic tracking system will monitor if any violations of the tax laws are committed.
The banks can also forward complaints to the FBR about suspicious cash transactions.
According to sources, proof and explanation can also be sought from the depositor if the cash transaction exceeds Rs200,000.
