Office boy turns out to be mastermind of Rs1.5m theft at Lahore office

In an unexpected turn of events, a theft of Rs1.5 million, which took place at a Race Course office in Lahore, was solved by the police in under eight hours, with the office boy revealed as the prime culprit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday

Police sources indicated that the case took an interesting turn when the CCTV footage of the area in question enabled the police to identify and apprehend the mastermind behind this robbery.

The suspect was identified as Sohaib, who had been working as an office boy for almost five years at the same office.

A police spokesperson disclosed that Sohaib cleverly staged a fake theft in order to steal the amount.

Instead of planning a break-in, he hid the cash in the office kitchen and constructed a false narrative to conceal his actions. 

Superintendent of Police Chaudhry Athar Ali told the media that the suspect’s cunningness could not last much longer as the amount was entirely retrieved from him.

SP Civil Lines further added that a formal case has been lodged against the suspect, who has been handed over to the investigation team for the continuation of the legal proceedings.
