President Zardari and PM Shehbaz express grief over China disaster

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep grief over the loss of life and property caused by devastating rains, landslides, tornadoes and storms in China, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

In separate messages posted on X, both leaders extended heartfelt condolences to President Xi Jinping, the government of China and the families of those who lost their loved ones in the disaster. They said Pakistan shared in the sorrow of the Chinese people during this difficult time.

The president said he was deeply saddened by the severe floods and heavy rains affecting China and offered sympathy to the bereaved families. He said Pakistan’s solidarity with its Chinese friends remained firm and unchanged.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a separate statement, conveyed condolences on behalf of the people of Pakistan to President Xi Jinping, the Chinese government and the affected families. He said Pakistan stood with China in this difficult hour and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the disasters.

The severe weather has hit China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, along with Hubei and Gansu provinces, causing widespread damage and loss of life.
