Wasim Abbas confirms divorce from Saba Hameed after 29-year marriage

Veteran actor Wasim Abbas has confirmed for the first time that he and fellow actor Saba Hameed ended their 29-year marriage, revealing that the couple had been living separately for the past 14 years before their divorce was formally finalized, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.

Long regarded as one of Pakistan's most respected and successful celebrity couples, Wasim Abbas and Saba Hameed were admired for both their on-screen performances and their seemingly strong personal relationship.

However, in a recent interview, Abbas disclosed that they had decided to part ways many years ago.

The veteran actor said the separation remained cordial, adding that despite living apart, they continued to work together on various projects and occasionally met as friends for meals.

 He also said he would have no hesitation in sharing the screen with Saba Hameed again if offered a suitable role, stressing that there was never any bitterness or resentment between them.

Speaking about the divorce, Abbas said he felt neither sadness nor regret over the decision, explaining that the emotional bond necessary to sustain a marriage had faded with time. He also clarified that the couple had no children together.

The actor further revealed that he has always maintained a warm relationship with Saba Hameed's family.

According to him, mutual respect has always been more important than love in any relationship, and he believes ending their marriage with dignity was the right decision.

Abbas emphasized that neither he nor Saba Hameed ever spoke negatively about each other in the media, saying they always chose to protect each other's dignity and respect.

Reflecting on his second marriage, the actor said he does not consider the decision entirely wrong, as it seemed appropriate at the time.

Looking back, however, he believes it may not have been the right choice, though he has no regrets about how the relationship ended.

When asked about the possibility of marrying again, Abbas ruled out the idea, saying he has no such plans.

He said he is now a grandfather, lives with his children, and his first wife also resides in the same house, making another marriage unnecessary in his view.

Following his revelations, social media users and members of the entertainment industry have widely praised the former couple for handling their separation with maturity and mutual respect.

Saba Hameed has not yet issued any public statement regarding Abbas' remarks.
