There is a severe shortage of free textbooks for grade 1 to grade 5 in Lahore which has made it hard for the students to get their summer vacations work done in the event of non-availability of books. 

The 24NewsHD TV Channel has learnt on Wednesday that the Punjab Textbook Board has failed to provide free textbooks to a large number of pupils studying in grade 1 to grade 5 in Lahore because of the shortage of books. 

According to TV report, 22 schools in Model Town; 38 in tehsil Raiwind; 28 in tehsil Shalimar; 25 in tehsil City; and 40 schools in tehsil Cantt have not been provided with the textbooks so far making it a big challenge for the students as they are perplexed how could they be able to complete their summer vacation homework. Thousands of kids studying in public schools are deprived of getting full set of their textbooks. 

On the other hand, the Education Authority Lahore has said that the work on printing free textbooks was going on claiming that the students would be provided books by June 15.

The authority further said that the textbooks for grade 6 to grade 8 will be provided by July 15.
