Russia places in detention Frenchman accused of gathering military info

A Moscow court ruled Friday that a French citizen prosecutors say was collecting military information be held in pre-trial detention until at least August 5, an AFP journalist at the court reported.

Laurent Vinatier was arrested on Thursday and charged with breaching Russia's "foreign agents" laws, a crime that carries up to five years in prison.
