Trump issues stark threat to Musk ahead of 2026 elections

US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to billionaire Elon Musk, cautioning him of "serious consequences" if he chooses to support the Democrats in the upcoming elections.

Speaking to American media, President Trump made it clear that he has no intention of mending his relationship with Musk, a rift that has recently escalated into a public controversy. 

The former president’s remarks come in the wake of a now-deleted social media post by Musk that linked Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

When asked directly whether his relationship with Musk was completely over, Trump responded bluntly: "Yes, I believe so."

Trump further issued a veiled threat, specifically in light of speculation that Musk may back Democratic candidates in the 2026 midterm elections. 

Although he did not outline the exact nature of the potential consequences, the president hinted that Musk's companies, many of which rely on government contracts, could face backlash.

Trump also claimed to have previously granted Musk several concessions and advantages during his time in office.

However, he emphasised that those days are over, stating that he has "no intention" of holding further discussions with the tech mogul.

This latest fallout underscores growing tensions between two of the most influential figures in modern American politics and business.
