PIA Boeing-777 off to Poland to bring back stranded Pakistanis
Spokesperson says more flights will be dispatched help Pakistanis uprooted by Ukraine war
The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing-777 left Tuesday morning for Poland’s capital Warsaw to bring back over 300 stranded Pakistani nationals, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
These Pakistani nationals included families and students living in Ukraine until the war broke out, forcing them to flee Ukrainian cities including the capital Kiev and take refuge in neighbouring countries including Poland.
Flight PK-7787 left Lahore Airport at 7:23 am and will land in Warsaw Poland at 10 am and will return with passengers to Islamabad.
The PIA spokesperson said that the flight arrangements were made as per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs request.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi spoke to Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov of Russia and amongst other topics FM Qureshi requested assistance for safe and swift return of Pakistani citizens.
The Pakistan Embassy in Ukraine said that Russian FM Lavrov assured full support to his Pakistani counterpart.
