The first phase of the online audit of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) by the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) has been completed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The audit was carried out for the resumption of the PIA’s flight operation to the European countries.
As per the official sources, matters of technical nature remained under discussion during the PIA’s online audit by the IASA on Tuesday.
The IASA team was informed about the overall situation of flight safety, engineering, and flight operations.
The PIA management briefed the IASA team on safety and other administrative matters.
The IASA members from Europe (Italy and France) were part of the team carrying out the online audit.
In the next phase, the IASA team will come to Pakistan and conduct an on-site audit of the PIA.
The on-site audit will help the PIA deal with the complexities regarding the airlines’ flights to the European countries.
It is to be noted here that the PIA had been banned from operating direct flights to the European countries in July 2020 due to the alleged fake license scandal of pilots.
