Ex-chairman, CEO booked in case of Rs50 billion loss caused to KPT

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Sunday registered an FIR against the former chairman and the CEO in the case of Rs50 billion loss caused to the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) due to irregularities in berth allotments, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Those who were nominated in the FIR were former KPT chairman Ahmad Hayat and former GM Jamshed Zaidi.

Former CEO’s ICT Khurram Sajjad Abbas were also nominated in the case.

The Agency has started making preparations against legal persons of foreign companies.

In this connection, it has been decided to issue red notices through Interpol for the arrest of suspects living overseas.

The FIA’s spokesman has said that the berths of 1996 were not returned in 2017 despite a 21-year agreement.

It has emerged that a loss of over Rs50 billion was caused to the national exchequer through the allotment of berths by neglecting KICT rules.

The spokesman further said that open bidding was not held according to the KPT manual.
