International Women’s Day observes in Pakistan

International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026, under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action: For All Women and Girls,” is being observed in Pakistan and across the globe today (Sunday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Govt working to expand women’s access to education, healthcare: President

President Asif Ali Zardari said the government was working to expand access to education and healthcare to women, strengthen economic opportunity, and improve protection against violence.

In a message on International Women’s Day (8 March 2026), he said, “On International Women’s Day, I extend my greetings and respect to the women of Pakistan and to women across the world.”

“Observed under the auspices of the United Nations, this day reminds us of the central role women play in the life of every nation. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah made it clear that no country can progress without the full participation of its women. That principle remains relevant today and guides our efforts,” he added.

“Pakistan’s history reflects the strength and resolve of its women. We remember Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who led the nation with courage and showed that women can serve at the highest levels of public life,” he said, adding, “In public institutions, in the private sector and in communities across the country, women continue to contribute with dedication and skill.”

Govt committed to help women in achieving full potential: PM

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said the government of Pakistan was firmly committed to ensuring an environment where women can realize their full potential without any discrimination or fear.

In a message on International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, he said, “Today, on International Women’s Day, I express my tribute and goodwill to the women of Pakistan and around the world.

“In particular, I extend my greetings and congratulations to the women, mothers, sisters, and daughters of Pakistan,” he added.

“This year, International Women’s Day is being celebrated under the theme Rights, Justice, and Action: For All Women and Girls. This theme expresses our commitment to protecting women’s rights,” he noted.

“Protecting women’s rights is a guarantee of sustainable development and national prosperity,” he said, adding, “The overall development and prosperity of the nation is ensured only by equal opportunities and meaningful participation for women.”

CM Punjab message on International Women's Day

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid glowing tributes to women of Punjab and around the world.

In her message, Maryam Nawaz said that she is not the first chief minister of Punjab, but also a voice of every woman whose voice is oppressed.

She said that Punjab’s daughter is not weak now, but instead she is the strong arm of our State.

Chief Minister Sindh's message on Women's Day

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah saluted mothers, daughters, and sisters of Sindh who are symbols of the struggle for equality, rights, and justice.

In his message on the occasion of International Women's Day, Syed Murad Ali Shah said that providing equal opportunity to women in educational, health, and other sectors is among Sindh’s government priorities.

He said that women are playing an important role in progress in economic, social, and political fields.

Mashal Malik pays tributes to women

In her video message, Mashak Malik wife of Hurriyat leader Yaseen Malik, paid glowing tributes to the sacrifices rendered by the women worldwide.

She saluted the women of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine for showing courage and bravery against the fascist regime.

The mothers, sisters, and daughters of Kashmir kept the candle of courage and hope burning even in the darkness of oppression.

She further said that justice must be ensured for all the atrocities they have endured over the past four decades, since 1989, when India launched an all-out offensive to crush the Kashmiris’ struggle for self-determination.

IG Punjab extends greetings to women

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Police Punjab Rao Abdul Karim saluted the services of women.

 He said that as per the vision of Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Punjab, sexual harassment, abuse, violence, and exploitation are our red line.
