Pak Army repels Khawarij attack along Pakistan-Afghan border; one killed

The Pakistan Army foiled an infiltration attempt by militants of Fitna-al-Khawarij along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Chaman Sector, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to sources, a group of three to four Khawarij militants tried to cross into Pakistani territory from the border area adjacent to the Chaman sector by cutting the border fence.

Troops guarding the frontier responded promptly and effectively targeted the infiltrators.

During the exchange of fire, one militant was killed while the others fled the scene in an injured condition.

Security personnel also recovered four to five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along with equipment used for cutting the border fence.

Security sources said the timely and organised action of the Pakistan Army thwarted the militants’ plan, while operations are continuing to safeguard the border fence and prevent any infiltration attempts.
