A eunuch sustained serious injuries after being subjected to violence during a village festival in Hujra Shah Muqeem town of Punjab province, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Sunday.
Police said Qalb Shah started firing as Nadeem alias Sonia refused to accompany him during a village event.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital. The lawmen said they have launched a hunt for the accused and an investigation is on.
Earlier, Nadeem alias Sonia had been subjected to violence and hanged upside down and made the video viral.
These persons have suffered violent deaths between 2015 and 2018. Although the 2018 Transgender Rights Protection Act guarantees basic rights, its implementation is still a far cry.
The situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is particularly dire. When a transgender woman called Nazo was hacked to death in 2018, activists said she was the 62nd trans person murdered in the province since 2015.
In 2016, Alisha, a 23-year-old trans rights activist in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was shot seven times by a gang that extorts money from trans people reportedly.
She was rushed to a hospital in the city of Peshawar, but the staff argued over whether to take her to the men's or women's ward.
Reports said Alisha bled to death while being taunted by a group of men.
“There is a law on the national level, but the mindset of society is the same,” said a champion of transgender people’s rights.
