Uma Thurman joins Charlize Theron for epic showdown in explosive first trailer for The Old Guard 2
Sharpen your swords and brace for blood: Charlize Theron’s Andy is back, and this time she’s facing a deadly new immortal — played by none other than Uma Thurman in full Kill Bill-esque glory.
Netflix just dropped the first trailer for its highly anticipated fantasy-action sequel The Old Guard 2, teasing high-stakes battles, ancient grudges, and a possible war among immortals. The film premieres July 2 on the streaming platform.
In the teaser, Theron’s character Andy appears to have found peace after the events of the first film — but her serenity is short-lived. Enter Discord, a mysterious and menacing figure played by Thurman, who declares war:
“For centuries, I’ve watched you fight to protect humanity while forsaking your own kind. I will destroy you and everything you stand for with a power you can’t even imagine yet.”
Directed by Victoria Mahoney and penned by Greg Rucka, the original comic book creator, The Old Guard 2 reunites the immortal crew: Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli), James Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) — and introduces Henry Golding as Tuah, an old ally who may hold secrets to unlocking the true nature of their undying powers.
Despite Andy losing her immortality, the team faces a threat more dangerous than ever, one that could unravel the very foundation of their existence. The first Old Guard film, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, became a global streaming hit in 2020, topping Netflix charts upon release.
Producer Marc Evans hinted the franchise may not end here, teasing that The Old Guard 2's conclusion “kind of demands a number three.”
If the trailer’s intensity is any indicator, immortality has never looked so lethal — or so cinematic.
The Old Guard 2 premieres July 2 exclusively on Netflix.
