Gastro cases rise in Bahawalpur as heatwave intensifies
Cases of gastroenteritis are on the rise again in Bahawalpur as extreme heat continues to grip the city, with dozens of patients reported at major hospitals over the past 24 hours.
According to hospital officials, at least 51 people suffering from stomach-related diseases like diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and abdominal pain were brought to different hospitals in the city during the last day.
Bahawal Victoria Hospital received the highest number of patients, with 34 cases reported, while 17 patients were shifted to Sir Sadiq Abbasi Hospital.
Hospital sources said five gastro patients are still under treatment at the two facilities.
Medical experts warned that the disease could become an outbreak if the ongoing heatwave intensifies.
Doctors advised citizens to use clean drinking water and strictly follow hygiene measures to avoid stomach infections and dehydration.
