Rs1,300 dispute turns deadly in Rawalpindi, two youngsters killed

A minor dispute over just Rs1,300 turned into a horrifying act of violence in Rawalpindi, leaving two young men dead after an exchange of gunfire and alleged brutal torture by the accused.

The incident took place in the limits of Dhamyal Police Station near Pir Mehr Ali Shah Town on Chakri Road, where firing erupted between two groups following a dispute over a financial transaction.

According to eyewitnesses, the quarrel escalated rapidly and both sides opened fire, resulting in the deaths of two youths identified as Siraj and Zain. One injured person was shifted to the hospital, while the other died on the spot.

Police sources said the dispute originally involved Siraj over a transaction of Rs1,300, but Zain, who reportedly had no direct conflict with the accused, became a victim of the violence.

According to police sources, the accused allegedly tortured Zain before killing him. The suspects then reportedly tied his body to a motorcycle, dragged it and dumped it outside a house before fleeing the scene.

Personnel from Dhamyal Police Station reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the hospital. Authorities said an investigation into the incident has been launched and raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects.

The gruesome killings have sparked concern over the increasing trend of violent disputes over trivial matters in the city.

Police sources noted that a similar incident occurred in February this year when two youths working as stamp paper vendors in the district courts were shot dead in Rawalpindi over a financial dispute.
