Sania had congratulated her husband after Shoaib Malik became only the third cricketer in the world after Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard to score 10,000 runs in the shortest format of the game. He achieved the milestone in the National T20 cup while playing for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against Balochistan.

Shoaib Malik, who is third in the list of highest run-scorers in T20s, has 10,027 runs in 395 matches at an average of 37.41 and a strike rate of 125.71. The former Pakistan captain had announced his retirement from ODI cricket after the 2019 ODI World Cup but he continues to play for Pakistan in T20Is.

Sania Mirza on motherhood
Sania Mirza last played in Hobart alongside Nadiia Kichenok. The newly formed team won the tournament beating second seeds Peng Shuai/Zhang Shuai in the final. However, the team lost their first round match at the 2020 Australian Open because of a calf injury suffered by Mirza.

However, the coronavirus pandemic forced tennis to be stalled for a long time and that has given Sania Mirza some time with her one-year-old son Izhaan.

In an interview to Malayalam Manorama, Sania revealed that with Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters making a successful comeback after becoming a mother, she was inspired to make a comeback.

“I had gained too much weight during pregnancy. It took a lot of stubbornness and determination or me to lose 26 kilos in four months. My son Izhaan was my biggest motivation. I really want my son to watch me play at a big tournament and win. And with Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters making a comeback after having a baby, there was enough inspiration around,” Sania said.
