Justice Yahya Afridi has expressed concerns over the Supreme Court's order to register an FIR of the gun attack on PTI chief Imran Khan during the long march, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
His remarks are part of the two-page written order issued by the apex court Tuesday regarding a contempt of court case against PTI chairman Imran Khan that was heard by the supreme court the previous day
A five-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, and Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi issued the orders while hearing a contempt of court plea filed by the interior ministry against Imran for allegedly flouting a May 25 order of the apex court.
The supreme court granted the former prime minister one more week to submit a detailed reply in the contempt of court case.
During the hearing, justice Yahya Afridi showing his reservations observed that ordering IG Punjab to register FIR is irrelevant in the present case.
The order further said that IG Punjab informed about the FIR not being filed yet. The court order the IG Punjab to file FIR and report according to law, the order read. Imran Khan's lawyer sought time for a detailed answer, the order said, adding that Imran Khan is given a few more days to submit a detailed reply.
Further hearing of the case will be held next week.
