PML-N MNA Erum Hamid’s underage son remanded in road accident death case

A local court in Sargodha has granted three-day physical remand of PML-N MNA Irum Hamid’s son Ahmed Hamid and handed over the accused to cantonment police station in a road accident case on Saturday, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel. 

The underage son of PML-N member of the National Assembly Erum Hamid Hameed was arrested by the police in Sargodha for his involvement in rash driving which resulted into a fatal accident, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Ahmad Hameed, son of PML-N MNA Erum Hamid and former MNA and ex-parliamentary secretary Chaudhry Hamid Hameed, was driving a car on Jail Road when he hit a motorcycle, which resulted into critical injuries three persons including two children.

Later, injured four-year-old Khadija breather her last at the hospital while six-year-old Arshad and Ghulam Muhammad, residents of Cheema Colony, were still under treatment for serious wounds.

After obtaining CCTV footage from the accident site, the police have initiated investigation into the accident after registering a case.

However, an eyewitness confirmed that the car was being driven by MNA Erum Hamid’s son, aged about 16-17 years.

According to a police spokesman, the MNA’s car and driver were present inside the police station and they were investigating who was driving the car.

The spokesman said the proceedings will be conducted as per law.

Later, Chaudhry Hamid Hameed took his son to the Cantt Police Station and handed him over to the cops, saying he was shocked by the tragedy. “The victims are like my family members. The police should take action as no one is above the law,” he added.

Hamid Hameed said the driver was at the wheel when accident happened but an eyewitness negated him, saying Erum Hamid’s underage son driving the car.
