Ali Amin Gandapur removed, Sohail Afridi nominated as Chief Minister of KP: Salman Raja

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to remove Ali Amin Gandapur as the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and PTI founder Imran Khan has decided to nominate MPA Sohail Afridi as the KP chief minister.

PTI Secretary General Slaman Akram Raja has confirmed the removal of Ali Amin Gandapur from the Chief Ministership. Talking to media outside Adiala Jail, Salman Akram Raja confimred that Ali Amin Gandapur has been removed from the Chief Ministership and Sohail Afridi has been nominated as Chief Minister of KP.

Earlier, news of Ali Amin's removal was given by Bushra Bibi's focal person Roy Salman. “We will accept whatever decision Khan Sahib makes”, said Faisal Nadeem Gorchani, PTI Punjab's leader.

Aleema Khan’s lawyer Rai Salman has claimed that Ali Amin Gandapur is being removed. PTI Punjab leader Faisal Nadeem Gorchani while talking to journalists outside Adiala Jail said, “Whoever the Chief Minister comes, it will be ours”.

Addressing a media briefing in Rawalpindi later, Salman Raja confirmed the development, adding that it was Imran’s decision. He said the PTI founder also told him about the background of this in detail.

Speaking on the law and order situation in the PTI-ruled KP, Raja said: “There is the worst situation of terrorism in KP. There have been record incidents this year. “Khan sahib is very sad, the incident that happened in orakzai, Khan sahib said there is no choice for him now, but to do the change [in KP CM],” Salma Raja added.

He further quoted Imran as highlighting that for over two years he had the stance that the federal government’s policies were very wrong and the KP government should disassociate itself from it.

Less than an hour before Salma Raja’s remarks, PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan said he had not made any statement to the media about the KP CM.

“This is to clarify that I have not made any statement to the media about Ali Amin Gandapur. I have not spoken to any media outlet that ‘news about change of CM KP is fake or is a conspiracy against the party’,” Gohar said on X.

The PTI chairman posted the statement on X after various media outlets reported that CM Gandapur was to be removed from his role.

The development comes about a week after the PTI found itself embroiled in another controversy after PTI Founder Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan and CM Gandapur exchanged grave allegations, with the latter accusing Aleema of provoking rifts in the party.

The argument started with Aleema claiming that Gandapur had told her imprisoned brother that she was trying to hijack the PTI with the help of the Military Intelligence (MI) and the “establishment”. She made these remarks only a day after the KP CM met the ex-premier in jail for more than two hours and left the premises without speaking to the media persons.
