FGEHA director shot dead by bikers in Islamabad

In a targeted attack, motorcycle-borne assailants shot dead a senior officer of a federal government institution in Islamabad’s Blue Area late Tuesday night, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to police sources, two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a vehicle, killing Ihsan Elahi, who was serving as Director (Land) at the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA).

Ihsan Elahi had been associated with the Authority since 2024 and was known for his work in land management and housing development projects.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and collected forensic evidence and CCTV footage. Authorities said the case appears to be a targeted killing, adding that raids are underway to arrest the culprits.

The FGE Housing Authority (FGEHA), established in 1989 and later incorporated under the Companies Ordinance in 1990, operates under the Ministry of Housing and Works. It provides affordable housing to federal employees through self-financed schemes without direct funding from the national exchequer.

The FGEHA was upgraded to a statutory body through a presidential ordinance in 2019 and the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority Act 2020, empowering it to acquire land and launch housing projects in partnership with public and private entities.

Mohsin Naqvi took notice of murder

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday took notice of the brutal murder of the Director of Land Ehsan Elahi in Islamabad and directed a transparent and impartial investigation of the incident.

Mohsin Naqvi also sought a detailed report about the incident from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Islamabad in this regard.

The Interior Minister directed to arrest of all culprits who were involved in this gruesome murder.

He said that all possible measures should be adopted to provide justice to the bereaved family of the victim.
