Pakistan to attend IMF, World Bank annual meetings in Washington next week

The annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank are set to be held in Washington from October 13 to 18 and Pakistan's economic team led by Finance Minister and central bank governor will attend the annual meetings, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

The Pakistani team will meet with various delegations and investors on the sidelines of the meetings. During annual meeting, IMF will announce the decision of talks between Pakistan and IMF delegation on economic review. 

Meanwhile, the economic review talks between Pakistan and IMF team have entered final phase. Tax reforms, revenue targets, and economic policies are being discussed in detail during the talks. 

Ministry of Finance sources said today may be the last day of negotiations between Pakistan and IMF. In the absence of consensus, the IMF will decide on continuing the negotiations. 

The sources said positive results are expected from the review negotiations with the IMF. The prospects of success of the negotiations with the IMF are bright as negotiations are progressing in a constructive and positive manner. 

However, the success of the negotiations is conditional on the satisfaction of the IMF. The final decision regarding the success of the negotiations is to be taken by the IMF. 

Pakistan has fulfilled most of the IMF's conditions for the review and if the negotiations remained successful, there will be a staff-level agreement between Pakistan and the IMF.
