Punjab govt to buy wheat from farmers at Rs3,500 per 40kg
An agreement between Punjab government and private sector to procure wheat from farmers at Rs3,500 per 40 kg has been signed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
In an important meeting on wheat chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Lahore today, Agriculture Department gave a detailed briefing regarding wheat cultivation.
The meeting was briefed that a comprehensive plan for wheat procurement for next year is ready.
It was informed that there is no shortage of wheat in Punjab as there were ample reserves.
Talking on the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that farmers are our brothers and government is with them.
Maryam Nawaz said for the first time in the history of Pakistan, 1,000 free tractors were given to wheat farmers.
She said billions of agricultural inputs were provided to wheat farmers through Kisan Card.
Maryam Nawaz said all types of fertilizers are available in Punjab at controlled rates.
