Govt to depute cops for security of retired judges
After getting the nod from the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, the Ministry of Interior and provincial governments issued directives to provincial governments regarding the security of retired judges, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
As per the directives, the local District Police Officer (DPO) will be responsible for the security of retired judges.
In case of a judge’s death, his or her husband or wife will be provided a security squad comprising three policemen for life.
Earlier in August 2025, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has unveiled a new transport policy for its judges, applicable to both current and retired members of the judiciary.
The Transport Entitlement Policy for the Judges of the Supreme Court 2025 outlines the use of official vehicles and security measures for judges of the apex court.
