Punjab Arts Council issues new SOPs for stage dramas and theatre halls

The Punjab Arts Council has announced a new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for theatre halls and stage drama productions in the province, making script approval and adherence to cultural norms mandatory.

According to the new guidelines, obtaining pre-approval for every drama script is now mandatory, ensuring that all content is vetted by the council before staging.

The SOPs explicitly prohibit any form of indecent dance or immoral acts on stage, and ban objectionable dialogues and conversations in plays.

Additionally, performances will not be allowed to exceed their stipulated time duration.

The council has also stipulated that no stage drama can be conducted in any hall without prior permission.

Strict action and immediate penalties will be enforced against any violations of these regulations.

The measures are aimed at preserving cultural values while ensuring that entertainment remains within the bounds of law and morality.
