ATC to announce verdicts in two more May 9 cases next week

A local court has completed the trial in two cases involving the May 9 violence and reserved verdicts in these cases, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

The court has reserved verdicts in cases in which Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers were accused of setting fire to Shadman Police Station and a police van near Jinnah House.

At the final hearing, the lawyer of PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry gave his arguments before the court for four hours. Lawyers of PTI leaders Dr Yasmin Rashid and Shah Mahmood Qureshi also defended their clients in the court for hours.

Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Manzar Ali Gill heard the case the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore and verdicts are likely to be announced on Monday.

Against this backdrop, security has been beefed up at the Kot Lakhpat Jail and the accused have been stopped from leaving the jail premises.
