Durefishan Saleem’s ‘Dar-e-Nijaat’ performance sends viewers into a frenzy
Pakistani actress Durefishan Saleem has sparked a heated discussion online following the first episodes of Dar-e-Nijaat, with viewers sharing mixed reactions to her performance.
In Dar-e-Nijaat, Durefishan plays Zaryab, a young character from an elite background whose story is closely connected to Zimaal, played by Nameer Khan. Their relationship has been one of the main elements introduced in the early episodes as the drama establishes its central characters and their lives.
Soon after the drama premiered, viewers took to social media to share their first impressions of Durefishan’s performance. Some criticised her expressions and dialogue delivery, saying certain scenes felt exaggerated or unnatural.
One viewer called her acting “mediocre” and said she needs to improve her expressions and dialogue delivery, while another questioned whether she convincingly fits the youthful image of her character. Others described some scenes as overacting, although one viewer suggested that the role may simply require a different acting style.
Her pronunciation and diction have also drawn criticism, with some viewers saying certain dialogues and names were not delivered naturally. Another blunt comment praised her looks but questioned her acting ability.
Some viewers have also questioned whether her styling and mature screen presence match the youthful character she is portraying. However, others believe it is still too early to judge her performance, as the drama has only just begun.
Despite the criticism, Dar-e-Nijaat has also attracted interest because of its cast, production and storyline. The drama features Durefishan Saleem, Sheheryar Munawar and Nameer Khan in prominent roles and is written by acclaimed writer Umera Ahmed.
Directed by Saqib Khan, the drama introduces characters from privileged backgrounds whose lives gradually become connected through relationships, personal choices and emotional struggles. The opening episodes have mainly focused on establishing these characters and setting the stage for the conflicts and developments ahead.
As the story progresses, Sheheryar Munawar’s character is set to add another dimension to the narrative as the drama moves beyond its initial relationship-focused storyline and explores deeper emotional and personal themes.
