Gaza rescue teams recover bodies of 19 Palestinians from rubble

Gaza Civil Defence rescue teams have recovered the bodies of 19 Palestinians from the rubble of a destroyed residential building in western Gaza City, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

According to media reports, rescue teams completed a four-day search and recovery operation at the Karam residential building on Al-Sina’a Street, where the victims had been trapped under the rubble following an Israeli attack.

Mohammad Abu Dan, executive supervisor of the Gaza Civil Defence Body Recovery Project, said the search-and-recovery operation at the site had been completed.

The specialised teams have now moved to another area of Gaza City to continue the recovery work.

Officials said the operation was part of the second phase of a body recovery project, which began on July 19.

The project aims to locate and recover the remains of 1,072 people believed to be buried under the rubble of 147 destroyed homes across Gaza.

Gaza Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said rescue teams were continuing their work with extremely limited resources.

The available equipment includes one excavator, one bulldozer and one truck, while the International Committee of the Red Cross is also assisting.
