The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday rejected a petition seeking a ban on the December 13 public meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in Lahore

In the 14-page detailed verdict on the plea seeking court orders to stop the upcoming PDM meeting at the Minar-e-Pakistan ground in the Punjab capital, the court directed the provincial intelligence committee to decide within two days Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s application for the Lahore meeting.

Announcing the detailed verdict, Justice Jawad Hassan said that standard operating procedures (SOPs) prepared by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) for safety against coronavirus should be enforced in letter and spirit to save people’s lives.

The detailed judgement says that leaders and workers of political parties are bound by the law to follow the SOPs issued by the government for safety against coronavirus. The verdict says the court cannot interfere in the government policy. The court also said the petitioner in this case was not a party to the case.
