Rahat Fateh Ali Khan celebrates his 48th birthday

Today marks the 48th birthday of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, a well-known musician and the nephew of late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

He was born in Faisalabad on December 9th, 1974, into a musical family. He began singing at the age of seven, and late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, a music mogul, trained him in the art of singing qawalis.

When he was nine years old, he gave his first public performance at his grandfather's death anniversary. He began performing with the well-known qawwali group of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan when he was fifteen years old, and in 1985, he toured the UK with his uncle.

The singing maestro has sung hundreds of qawalis, songs, and ghazals not only in Pakistan but in India as well.

He is equally popular in India and is considered one of the highest paid singers in India. He first rose to fame in India with her song ‘Man ki lagan’ that he sang back in 2003.

Since then, he has been unstoppable, and every song he sings for India quickly rises to the top of the charts.

His most popular song for Bollywood include Tere mast mast do nain, Jag ghoomeya, Jag soona soona lage, Bol na Halke Halke, Main Jahan Rahun, O re Piya and many more.

He has also performed in Coke Studio Pakistan and also sang many hit songs for dramas, films and as well as national songs.

He went on winning Indian prestigious awards Filmfare and IIFA.

He was also awarded an honorary PhD degree in the field of music by the University of Oxford in 2019.
