Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday arrested UC Chairman and Vice-President of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf Youth Wing Shakeeb Qaimkhani from Hyderabad for spreading fake propaganda against state institutions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The arrested PTI leader was elected as chairman of Union Council 115 of Shah Latif Town.

As per FIA, Shakeeb Qaimkhani was spreading fake news about state institutions on social media frequently.

Earlier, from December 2, 2024 Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing has intensified action against PTI social media activists accused of spreading propaganda against the state organs.

The FIA has registered a case against ten PTI-affiliated social media activists under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and cyber terrorism clauses.

According to the FIR, the accused used artificial intelligence-generated and old videos and images to create misleading posts about events at Islamabad's D-Chowk, aiming to incite unrest.

The FIR added that this act of cyberterrorism was intended to manipulate public sentiment and create a false narrative about law enforcement and government actions.

Authorities vowed to continue pursuing individuals using social media platforms for malicious and unlawful activities that threaten national stability.
