Islamabad to host World and Asian Masters Weightlifting Championships in February
Govt assures full support for the event
Islamabad is set to host the combined World Masters (Grand Prix) and 2nd Asian Masters Weightlifting Championships from February 6–12, 2026, featuring hundreds of masters athletes from over 50 countries, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
President of the Pakistan Masters Weightlifting Federation, Arshad Khan, along with a delegation, met Secretary of the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, Mohiyuddin Ahmad Wani, to discuss preparations for the championship.
During the meeting, the IPC Secretary directed the Pakistan Sports Board to extend complete cooperation to the federation.
The Ministry of Interior and other relevant institutions have also been summoned for a coordination meeting scheduled on Friday.
Mohiyuddin Wani appreciated the contributions of Arshad Khan to the sport.
The federation has dedicated the upcoming championship to Ma’raka-e-Haq.
