JUI-Punjab rejects Motor Vehicle Ordinance, declares transporters’ strike support

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Punjab chapter has rejected the Punjab government’s Motor Vehicle Ordinance, terming it undemocratic and harmful for transporters, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday. 

In a session of its provincial executive body held in Multan under the chairmanship of Acting Provincial Amir Maulana Safiullah, the participants reviewed the government vehicle policy in detail. 

Following deliberations, the JUI leadership announced that the party “completely rejects” the Motor Vehicle Ordinance.

Maulana Safiullah said JUI-P endorsed the stance of transporters and supports their strike, urging the Punjab government to engage all stakeholders before introducing new laws.

“The Ordinance has led to a surge in bribery, with every department involved. Issuing an ordinance despite the presence of the provincial assembly is against democratic norms,” he said.
