The government has decided to reopen educational institutions in Pakistan in September, which were shut since March to stem the spread of coronavirus.
The decision was taken in Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) that was chaired by Minister for Federal Education Shafqat Mehmood and attended by ministers of all four provinces, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
During the meeting, it was decided that coronavirus situation will be thoroughly monitored before opening the institutions.
However, superstar Ali Zafar also praised the decision of the government. He took to twitter and wrote: “Educational institutions to reopen in September with strict SOPs, however corona situation to be analysed prior to it. I believe this sounds fair students.”

Earlier, Ali Zafar made an appeal to President Arif Alvi on behalf of the artists community.
In a video message, Zafar pointed out how the performing artists of Pakistan have been left unattended with no alternative means of survival since the pandemic broke out.
He went on to explain how his foundation in collaboration with another foundation and the Arts Council has been helping the needy artists community of Lahore and Karachi with weekly donations.
However, after reviewing the data from the donation drive it became evident that the government intervention was the only permanent solution to this issue.
“Since Covid-19, people affiliated with the entertainment and performing arts industry have suffered a lot. This is an appeal to the president of Pakistan on behalf of the musicians, performers, and technicians of Pakistan,” said Zafar in the video message.
