Taylor Swift's friend engaged after custody loss to ex-husband Kyle Newman

Actress and model Jaime King is reportedly engaged to Family Office investor Austin Sosa just months after losing physical custody of her two sons following a long and bitter divorce from filmmaker Kyle Newman.

The 46-year-old White Chicks star, who is a close friend of Taylor Swift, was spotted wearing a diamond ring after visiting Sally Hershberger Salon in West Hollywood, sparking engagement speculation.

According to People magazine, the couple got engaged while King was staying with Sosa's parents after being locked out of her Los Angeles home in March over more than $42,000 in unpaid rent. “She is very close with his family,” a source told the outlet.

King, who has shared little publicly about Sosa, tagged him in an Instagram post last month, calling herself "the luckiest and most great mother ever" in a heartfelt message.

The engagement comes amid ongoing personal turmoil for the Lights Out actress, whose custody battle with her ex-husband ended with a judge awarding Kyle Newman sole physical custody of their sons, 11-year-old James Knight and 9-year-old Leo Thames.

King retains joint legal custody but is limited to supervised visitation three times a week, as she reportedly failed to complete a court-mandated drug and alcohol recovery program, parenting courses, and counselling.

Her connection to Taylor Swift, who is the godmother of Leo, has drawn attention, although reports suggest the two are no longer in regular contact. Despite the distance, Swift still sends gifts to her godson and “would be there in a heartbeat” if needed, according to The US Sun.

On the Whine Down podcast in April, King opened up about the emotional toll of the custody loss: “My duty as a mother is to protect my children. And that’s all that matters to me. This is scary.” She also criticised the legal process, expressing frustration at what she described as an unfair system.

King accused Newman of painting her as a 'chronic drug addict and alcoholic' in court filings to gain full custody, while Newman claims he was left financially burdened, supporting the children on his own as King allegedly failed to pay court-ordered child and spousal support.
