Trees, crops damaged, Karakoram Highway blocked as rain lashes GB
Different areas in upper parts of country also receive rain
Monsoon rains continue to lash different parts of the country as more rains were reported from the upper and central parts of the country, including Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), during the last 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
In Chilas, district Diamer, Gilgit-Baltistan, torrential rains wreaked havoc by causing colossal loss to trees and crops and resulting in the suspension of power supply to different areas of the city as well as its suburbs.
Apart from that, people were left stranded following the blockage of the Karakoram Highway at a number of places due to landslides.
Rain reported from Islamabad, Punjab cities
Rain was also reported from the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
In Punjab, besides Lahore, rain was reported from Renala Khurd, Jhelum, Kharian and other cities, which besides turning the weather pleasant, also resulted in the tripping of several feeders due to which the power supply was suspended.
The rain was heavier in some places.
In Lahore, low-lying areas were inundated following heavy rain in the city.
Mansehra, surroundings receive rain
The weather turned cold following several hours of rain in Mansehra and the surrounding areas of Kaghan, Shogran and Naran.
The district administration urged tourists to stay away from rain drains and the areas vulnerable to landslides.
The administration informed that the River Kunhar was in low flood.
More rain forecast
The Met Office, on the other hand, forecast rain, accompanied by strong gales, for Kashmir, KP, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad during the next 24 hours.
It said it might rain cats and dogs at a few places in Kashmir, north-east Punjab, and Islamabad.
